Good morning all,

Does anyone know if platform 2 at Sheerness-on-Sea is actually used for a passenger train?

Doesn't look like it in the current timetable when there's no peak extras to London. I suspect pre-Covid the peak extras to London used P2.

I thought they used P1 and the normal shuttle got bumped to P2?

Yes it was am and pm peak services x5car 465 466 combinations when I travelled in may 2019.
6 car, formed of a 465 and 466. Order of the two units would frequently change. Used to use it from Dec 2017 until lockdown (albeit not from Sheerness).

Not routinely no, if there's signalling issues etc... scheduled services may go into 2 but this is on an ad-hoc basis. Back in February when the line was closed between Sittingbourne and Gillingham, some 8 car services went to P2 at SSS if the driver signed the route to prevent blocking the platforms out of use at Sittingbourne... these were services that would've gone up to Vic and then back down. Instead, terminated at Sittingbourne and then proceeded to SSS for turnaround.
