There is talk that New Car Trains may be sent directly from the Continent to Sheerness. I know there used to be car trains from Sheerness some years ago to the North and Scotland etc. What I can't find is a map that shows the rail connection into the Car Compound and I wondered does anyone know of any photos that might show the connection?

Just looking at google earth the car holding pounds seem to be the wrong side of the main road but there seem to be plenty of sidings there

Could be wrong, but seem to remember an article in 'Today's Railways' a couple of years ago with such a photo.

The access they used to use cant be used now as it crosses the main road in/out of Sheerness but there is an old spur which would need to be reinstated at the western end but that would annoy the industrial estate there too.

Well the western way in looks doable its only 1 level crossing and that a dead end road to the estate Im sure they can cope. Just looked on google earth there a pic of a railtour on the western access in 2006 and a quick soom still shows the loading ramp in situ (imagery date 2013):D
