I was cycling through Sharpness yesterday and noticed that there has been some activity clearing the overgrown sidings (the ones immediately east of Bridge Road and west of Oldminster Road). Anyone know what‘s going on? It always seems a bit of a shame that there’s so much railway infrastructure down there but none of it is ever used.

Presumably the preservation group that have access to some of it are doing some work.

Noddy, Check out the Vale of Berkeley Railway website. If the sidings are called Oldminster sidings it is the preserved railway group who have cleared them. Oldminster Road, so stands a chance!

Thanks both. I had no idea a preservation group was working down there!

Is Bridge Road onward private property?
Got a bit freaked out whilst nosying about on Google Streetview as everywhere I went there was a woman in a plum duvet jacket and white hat walking in front (on the lower bridge her face isn’t even mosaicked which is a surprise). I eventually had to assume that she is walking the Streetview car round??
Its as though she is being stalked by the Streetview car!

From my days when I had friends that lived in the terrace on Great Western Rd, yes it is Private from the roundabout (*) with Severn Rd, right around, over the Lower Bridge to the junction with the road over the High Bridge.
(*) GoogleStreetView does show CaRT/BWB signage by the roundabout.
