*I do not recognise the name Sandwell & Dudley because it's an insult to the people of Oldbury to tell them their town's no good.

I read somewhere (whether its true or not i can't say) that Oldbury International was considered as an alternative name for S&D when it was rebuilt. Which would have been cool.

Was the renaming which accompanied the rebuilding of Oldbury station not because the two councils concerned had dipped their hands into their pockets to pay for it?

First station scores of 2026 For reference, my first new station of the year was Lockwood. First time on the Penistone Line since I think 2011, not sure about that as it might have been 2012, I’d forgot how scenic it is! The quietness of Brockholes and the birds singing was just fantastic, loved it!

Amazing day weather-wise so opted to walk between Prestbury and Alderley Edge by Hare Hill and got a lovely clear view of Stockport and Manchester from the hill. May need to start doing retrospective trip diaries for these adventures.

Unfortunately I was going to do Clifton and Kearsley but Clifton train was cancelled and was getting late, so going to reattempt.
