Severn Valley Railway Diesel Gala 2015

Apologies if there is already a thread for this, although I did perform a quick search and couldn't see one so....

The line-up for the Severn Valley diesel gala on Thursday 1st, Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd of October 2015 has been confirmed as:

Class 14: D9531
Class 17: D8568
Class 35: D7076
Class 55: 55019

Home-fleet reported to include D3201, 12099, D1062 and the DMU. 09012 not confirmed as such, but is operational and the assumption is that it will participate in some form.

Also, whilst nothing more than rumour, the reduced home fleet could result in a repeat of last's years scenario whereby we had a few extra visitors at short-notice; we'll have to 'watch this space' where that is concerned.

And just for further information, it has been confirmed that the 2016 SVR Diesel Gala has been resceduled and will now be held in May, on the 19th, 20th & 21st.

So correct me if I'm wrong but for 2016 it's five months earlier than it has been over the past few years? Or do they have a Spring and an Autumn event?

The SVR only has the one Diesel Gala moved to May 2016, the organiser has been mulling this over for a while. One of his reasons for the change of date is that main line foc locomotives tend not to be available in the autumn months due to RHTT and other commitments.

Which, as already noted elsewhere, is a little odd considering the SVR has no air-braked stock and weight restrictions prevent the use of a translator loco.

For that reason I can understand, but it'll mean May will become a very busy month for Diesel Galas - one of the largest, The Swanage's gala is only a few days short of that!
