The most surprising thing is that their controband phones weren't isolated from every possible outside source of making them loud.
It's literally just a single setting they didn't do.

They'll know for future, although tbh given how rife phones are in prison I suspect that there were so many alerts going off that it was impossible to find most of them.

I got several. Maybe a quick-thinking Prisons service chief requested the duplicates alerts be sent?

They go off a couple of times a week in the US, particularly on the west coast. Here’s an example from last year (photo is of a missing person alert in LA):

I was surprised how many I received when I was in Texas and hope we're not going the same way here. I was woken up for one at 3am for a missing person which it's unlikely I'd have been able to do anything for in a city of over two million people but it wasn't even for the area I was in.

I didn't received the wildfire alert though in Scotland which is fine with me although wonder have they specifically said the areas they were covering?
