Famously, there were 4,000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire, according to the Beatles' A Day in the Life. they went on to speculate that this would be a sufficient number to fill the Albert hall, which is in Kensington, London.

Burnley is the smallest town to have been represented in the Premier League. Conversely, Bristol is the largest to have not been represented.

In the early 19th century Braintree became a centre for silk manufacturing when George Courtauld opened a silk mill in the town. Silk Mill Crossing was formerly a level crossing to the west of Taunton station, Somerset.

Bradford and Salford are both places ending in 'ford' that are also served by short motoways in the M60x series.

Bradford is one of the few cities that is not built on any substantial body of water. The same could not be said for another Bradford, Bradford on Avon, which is, as its name suggests, on the River Avon.
