Clitheroe and Worcester were places of battle during the reign of King Stephen in the Civil War conflict from 1135-1154 known as "The Anarchy"

Let's move on to Holywell on the North Wales coast

Highbury and Holywell are names of B&Bs in Loughborough, both within walking distance of the Great Central Railway

Ferneyhalgh and Holywell both have wells that had pilgrimages to them in past days.

Ah, that's right, This beautiful old church sits amongst green fields north of Preston. Close by is the shrine of Ladyewell, which has a supposedly miraculous well and is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Another site of a miraculous well was observed by the medieval traveller William of Worcester at Wookey (Somerset).
