In 1676 William Hawkins, Rector of Droxford Church, married Anne Walton. Her father was Izaak Walton.

In May 1655 Izaak Walton bought Halfhead Farm in Shallowford, Staffordshire which included the cottage where he spent some of his spare time fishing and writing.

All Saints Church, Chebsey contains late Victorian stained glass windows by Charles Eamer Kempe (1837 – 1907). Another example of his work can be found in All Saints Church, Leighton Buzzard.

Great Bolas is situated close to the River Tern, which flows eventually into the River Severn near Wroxeter, Shropshire.

Impressively, we’ve found two separate associations to Wroxeter in quick succession. A minor technicality which the Rules first set out by @Ivo in 2011 forbids. Shall we try again from Great Bolas? :)

Great Bolas in Shropshire was also once administered by the Hundred of South Bradford.

Whereas Tenby has an Upper and Lower Frog St, Rochdale has a Toad Lane, home of the co-operative movement.

In 2010, Meavy was one of the filming locations for the Steven Spielberg film War Horse. Another location on Dartmoor was the village of Sheepstor; the village with its prominent church tower features in an aerial shot in the trailer for the film.

The Exeter Ship Canal was first built in the 1560s, the first substantial artificial waterway to be built in Britain since the Roman occupation. It was extended twice, once in 1677 and again in 1825. It now reaches from Exeter Quay almost as far as Powderham, Devon.

Denby in Derbyshire is another place famous for its pottery products (but not for much longer, sadly - the Denby company has gone into administration).
