The 18th Century bridge that crosses the Widdale Beck in Appersett was designed by the architect John Carr, best known for designing Harewood House. However he also designed St Peter & St Leonard's Church in Horbury, West Yorkshire. He was born in the town and is buried in the church.

The oldest pétanque club in Wales, Wenvoe Pétanque Club was formally Constituted in 1976, though people were playing the game in the village of Wenvoe for a number of years before that.

Located for many years in the village of Wenvoe, in the summer of 2020 the Club moved to the Dinas Powys (or Dinas Powis) Athletic Club.

Ickford in Buckinghamshire was also once administered by the Hundred of Ewelme.

The Puritan minister Dr. Calybute Downing (1605–1643) held the living of the parish of Ickford from 1632 but it was then conferred on Gilbert Sheldon (1598 – 1677) who was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1663 until his death. He already held the living of Hackney, received that of Oddington, Oxfordshire at about the same time as Ickford, and at some time also that of Newington, Oxfordshire.

Inside the church of St Andrew's, at Oddington, is an early 16th-century monumental brass in memory of Ralph Hamsterley, who had been parish priest and died in 1518. It is a cadaver monument, showing his corpse in its burial shroud, which is a style unusual for monumental brasses in England.

Elsewhere, there is an example from the late 15th century, also in memory of a parish priest, in the parish church at Lytchett Matravers in Dorset.

Withnell Fold in Lancashire is also an example of a model village.

A model village is a mostly self-contained community, built from the late 18th century onwards by landowners and business magnates to house their workers.

Withnell Fold's paper mill, for which the model village was built, was bought by the major papermaker Wiggins Teape and subsequently closed down. The same fate befell Turkey Mill at Boxley in Kent. This mill made paper for 280 years, the longest period of production of any English paper mill, and was at one time the largest in the country.

Loose was the location of a ragstone quarry, though it's now disused.

Only two ragstone quarries are operational in Kent. One of these is Hermitage Quarry in Barming.

The A26 road crosses the parish of Barming near to it's eastern end; it also pass through the village and civil parish of Tarring Neville in the Lewes district of East Sussex.

Selmeston in East Sussex was also once administered by the Hundred of Danehill Horsted.

In August 1940 a Messerschmitt Bf109E was shot down and crash landed in a field at Selmeston. Later in the year, in November, a similar aircraft crash landed at Kingsnorth, near Ashford, Kent. The latter was taken round the country and displayed to raise money for the Spitfire Fund. Both pilots survived.

Vauxhall in the London Borough of Lambeth is another settlement which gave its name to a motor company. Leyland started with steam lawnmowers and Vauxhall with steam fire pumps, so some similarity in their technical origins, too.
