Thundridge is fortunate to have still three pubs, one of which is The Feathers, a name shared with a hostelry in Holt, Norfolk.

Holt is the possessor of a pineapple-topped obelisk which once stood, one of a pair, at the entrance to Melton Constable Park. Its twin was given to the town of Dereham, Norfolk. The obelisks had the distance to various towns in the locality carved on them. At the start of World War II the good people of Dereham dumped their obelisk down a well in case it might assist invading Germans. The Holt obelisk was painted white. (It did occur to me that if the distances were from the original location of the obelisks, they would simply confuse invaders, so maybe the inhabitants of Holt had a point after all).
