Whereas the Bull’s Head at Foolow changed its name to ‘The Lazy Landlord’, but later reverted to its old name, the Bull’s Head at Breightmet near Bolton has changed its name to Henighans and has kept its new name.

The post of Librarian of the Bodleian Library was held from 1912 to 1919 by one Falconer Madan, born in Cam. The first person appointed to the job was Thomas James in 1602. He was born in Newport, Isle of Wight.

The Cocking Iron Foundry specialised in the manufacture of waterwheels. One of their surviving wheels has been installed at the Weald and Downland Museum at Singleton, West Sussex. (Home of the barn which stars in the BBC programme "The Repair Shop".)

Haugh of Urr in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland also has the remains of a motte and bailey castle in its environs.

Dalbeattie was once known for the quality of granite produced in the nearby Craignair Quarry. Blackenstone Quarry near Bridford in Devon is the last remaining producer of Dartmoor granite.
