These days, Wardleworth is moreorless part of Rochdale with a reduced significance in its own right. However, there is an hourly bus to Halifax from its primary street.

The People's Park in Halifax is a public park originally designed by Joseph Paxton. Another location of a Paxton designed park can be found at Birkenhead on the Wirral.

I seem to be going great guns with the twinnings these days; anyway -- Loughborough, Leicestershire, is also twinned with a settlement in the German State of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Haverfordwest's "twin" is Oberkirch; Loughborough's is Schwaebisch Hall.

The village sits on the shores of Chichester Harbour and is home to a locked marina on the site of a former tide millpond. The tide mill building itself still exists.

Another location with a surviving tide mill is Thorrington in Essex.

Prestonpans in East Lothian is also associated with witchcraft.

The St Osyth Witches were 14 women who were tried for witchcraft in Essex in 1582

John Fian (alias Cunninghame) (died 27 January 1591) was a Scottish schoolmaster in Prestonpans, East Lothian and purported sorcerer.

Prestonpans was the scene of a major - but brief - battle on 21st September 1745 when the Jacobite forces led by Prince Charles Edward Stuart defeated the ill-equipped government army led by Sir John Cope, which had disembarked from ships in Dunbar harbour four days earlier.

Born in Dunbar, John Muir emigrated to America as a child, but in adult life was a key advocate in the establishment of national Parks such as Yosemite. There is a long distance walking trail called the John Muir Way that starts in Dunbar and finishes in Helensburgh on Scotland's west coast.

Bedworth was the northernmost point on the Coventry Corporation electric tramways system; southernmost thereof, was Earlsdon, Warwickshire -- just south-west of Coventry. (Coventry's trams ceased to run, as from 1940: one has to wonder whether this was connected with regrettable events on Nov. 14/15 of that year.)

Coventry in Warwickshire was also once under the jurisdiction of the Coventry Poor Law Union.
Good heavens -- how surprising <D ! (Sorry...)

Wollaston, Northamptonshire -- three miles south of Wellingborough -- also shares its name with a lake in Canada.

One of Kings Lynn's most famous sons was George Vancouver, whose name was given to the city in British Columbia. He died, aged only 40, In Petersham, just south of Richmond-upon-Thames.

The Plough in Old Malden is a Miller and Carter restaurant. There is also one of this chain in Sheffield.
