We are most certainly on the right road, as the first Ulpha settlement was in Cumberland, to which a posting was made stating a similarly-named settlement was in Westmorland and Furness, to which posting #39,001 was made as that too was a settlement in Westmorland and Furness.

The only other settlement in Great Britain featured in my road atlas, with a name beginning "Meat..." : is Meath Green, Surrey -- a few miles north of Crawley. (Not getting into stuff concerning Ireland's province of Leinster -- visited earlier today !)

? Oddly enough -- one might even say, confusingly -- there is another Ulpha not at all far from the above-bolded one. I get thoroughly lost as to present-day status re what is Cumberland / Cumbria / other "permutations and combinations" -- at all events, "Ulpha No. 2", subject of this post: is some twenty miles south-south-east of "Ulpha No. 1" of the BPLU; and three to four miles north-east of Grange-over-Sands -- in what I'm given to understand is the Westmorland & Furness district of Cumbria. ?

ETA: I seem altogether to be in "elderly and confused" mode today. Didn't realise that I had actually posted this one -- thought had been forestalled at last moment by post #38,999. (@Tetragon213 -- please, why the striking-out? I see nothing wrong with your association in that post.)

For some reason, on my computer, it initially claimed that my posting was after yours; I didn't read the post numbers, and was under the impression that my posting was the late one.

Folkestone, Kent, is also twinned with a settlement in the French departement of Pas-de-Calais (both French places, of World War I [in]fame[y]). Horley's "twin" is Vimy; Folkestone's is Etaples.

Respectfully -- was not suggesting that there was nothing to say about Meathop itself; just, I chose a different (but in my view, legitimate) association to make, re that estimable Northern community.

(Another road atlas which I own -- but have basically abandoned using -- has rather a way of showing supposed settlements; whose being known of by any other source, can be doubted .)

Trying to get inventive -- Peebles has a name reminiscent of a character in the TV cartoon film series The Flintstones; as does Barney, Norfolk -- between Fakenham and Holt. (I recall my mother -- a great mispronouncer; and not au fait with popular culture, and proud of it -- calling the Flintstones' daughter Pebbles, "Peebles".)

The clock of the parish church at Worsley: I believe, "transported from elsewhere", but still does its idiosyncratic thing of chiming thirteen times for 1 PM. Purpose of this, allegedly to alert workmen to the 1 PM end of their dinner break (one "ding" was easily missed). This would seem possibly, a particular feature of this part of the world: Walkden, Greater Manchester, used to have a clock which did the same thing for the same reason.

The "Thornham" to which I put forward is a very small settlement but has quite a good cricket ground upon which I once played in a charity fixture at the age of 15 and scored 11 runs.

Gorleston-on-Sea in Norfolk also has a church that is dedicated to St Mary Magdalene.
