Apologies for being a nitpicker; but I can construe the above only as Wrestlingworth, with an "l"; in Bedfordshire (a mile west of the Beds. / Cambs. boundary). The last woman to be publicly hanged in England, was Sarah Dazley of Wrestlingworth -- not a nice lady: she had poisoned two husbands and a child. S.D. was hanged outside Bedford jail in 1843. The last female-offender public execution in Ireland was the hanging in 1821, outside Kilmainham jail in Dublin: of Bridget Butterly and Bridget Ennis, for the murder of a lady resident in the house where Butterly was a servant.Wrestingworth in Cambridgeshire was also once administered by the Hundred of Biggleswade.
