Barton-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire, also has very near to it a prominent reserve of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust (Whisby Nature Park, and Far Ings, respectively).

Non-PC sports department, viz. celebrated English fox-hunts "in the days of": Brixworth was, for roughly a century and a half ending in 1966, host to the Pytchley Hunt. The Meynell Hunt, counterpart thereof, was based at Sudbury, Derbyshire: a few miles east of Uttoxeter.

Was delighted to discover that Haverigg lies on the (very short) River Lazy. By word-association; there is also the much more substantial River Idle -- tributary of the Trent, and flowing through Bawtry, City of Doncaster.

Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire was also once a coaching stop on the Great North Road (later to become the A1) between London and Edinburgh.

Boroughbridge lies -- as well as on the line of the A1 -- on the B6265; as does, a good way further west, Grassington, North Yorkshire.

There is another village with the "Gobion" suffix, some 25 miles west-north-west of Higham Gobion. This is Yardley Gobion, Northamptonshire, south-east of Towcester. We are told that the second word of Higham G. refers to the Gobion family who resided in the area, following on from the Norman Conquest. Re Yardley G. -- Wiki would seem to do as it sometimes does, i.e. gives something which doesn't obviously make a lot of sense. It would appear to be offering two different and mutually exclusive explanations of the "Gobion" part: that "Henry Gubyun held land in the village in 1228"; and that the word has an (obscure) meaning in "the old tongues", concerning the inanimate -- nothing to do with proper names. ???

Keighley in West Yorkshire also has a family-owned brewery founded in the 19th century (J W Lees in Middleton and Timothy Taylor's in Keighley).
