Sorry to be boring and default to pubs; but, Cheadle Hulme has a pub called the Hesketh Tavern. Ormskirk, West Lancashire, has a pub called the Hesketh Arms.

59 is the 17th prime number. 59*17=1003. A1003 links High Rd (A1000) in North Finchley to New Southgate station (A109) in Arnos Grove, along the Friern Barnet road. (doubleposted)

Leicester's Church in Denbigh is an unfinished cathedral planned to be built in 1579, but left uncompleted due to lack of funds. Another town with a similar population (~8900) and unfinished cathedral is Glastonbury, Somerset with the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey.

The more-or-less annual Glastonbury Festival -- about and featuring, "all things counter-culture" -- is in fact held at the village of Pilton, Somerset; six miles east of Glastonbury.

Croscombe is situated on the River Sheppey: a tributary of the River Brue which rises near the Somerset / Dorset border, and flows via Glastonbury to reach the Bristol Channel near Burnham-on-Sea; flowing en route, appropriately, through Bruton, Somerset.

This one will take some magicking.

The main road through Bruton is the A356, which goes from Nunnery Catch to Yeovil. The closest station to the Yeovil end is Yeovil Pen Mill, and the closest to the Nunnery end is Frome. The fastest direct service between these stations is the GWR service which takes 29 minutes (for example, 0909 Gloucester to Weymouth calls at Frome 1101 (dep 1102), Bruton 1113, Castle Cary 1118, YPM 1131).

Over the network, there are various combinations of direct services with 29 minutes of call between various stations. But we're going to look at Accrington to Hebden Bridge (On the Northern 0718 out of Blackpool, it's Accrington 0811 (dep 0813), Burnley Manchester Road 0821, Hebden Bridge 0842). The A646 connects these settlements (with a small section of A679 at the Accrington end).

For a good part of the A646, the River Calder flows alongside it. This river runs east between Bradford and Huddersfield, through Wakefield, and merges into the River Aire, which itself merges into the Ouse flowing into the Humber. This last occurs at a place named Faxfleet.

Along the A646 we find a small village named Holme Chapel. This has three letters in common with Faxfleet (one l, two e's). Bruton also has three letters in common with Burnham.

Therefore, the commonality of Holme Chapel with Bruton is that both are on a main road whose two ends take 29 minutes to travel by rail at the fastest, with a river flowing through them which reaches the sea at a conurbation which shares three letters with the name.

Dammit. Doubleposted again.

Sherbourne has a skate park, and the A30 runs through it. It has a population of 10365. Another town on the A30 with a similar population and a skate park is Hook in Hampshire (9060).

Appleby in Westmorland was also a 'rotten borough' until the early nineteenth century....returning two MPs elected by just a handful of voters.

Abercanaid, County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil, also lies both on the disused Glamorganshire Canal; and the Taff Trail walking and cycling path from Cardiff Bay to Brecon.

Mamble is the subject of a poem by John Drinkwater (1882-1937), which runs:

I never went to Mamble
that lies above the Teme,
so I wonder who's in Mamble,
and whether people seem
who breed and brew along there
as lazy as the name,
and whether any song there
sets alehouse wits aflame.

The finger-post say Mamble,
and that is all I know,
of the narrow road to Mamble,
and should I turn to go
to that place of lazy token,
that lies above the Teme,
there might be a Mamble broken
that was lissom in a dream.

So leave the road to Mamble
and take another road
to as good a place as Mamble
be it lazy as a toad;
who travels Worcester County
takes any place that comes,
when April tosses bounty
to the cherries and the plums

Drinkwater was one of a number of poets known as the Dymock Poets, associated with the Gloucestershire village of that name. Rupert Brooke was a rather better-remembered fellow member.
