Swansea also has a church that is dedicated to St Hilary.
Cardiff also has a noted Science Museum.Swansea is the second largest city in Wales, whereas Edinburgh is the second largest in Scotland.
Normanton, West Yorkshire, also has a namesake settlement in the Australian State of Queensland. (The Queensland Normanton and Croydon -- about a hundred miles apart -- have a mutual association of the kind which is not functionally valid in this game !)On 24 December 1944, Spennymoor was hit by a rogue V-1 flying bomb, which had initially been aimed at Manchester. This was the most northerly settlement in England to be hit by a V-1.
The greatest density of V-1 'hits' during WW2 was suffered by Croydon South London.
Will confess that my first thought was, "there cannot seriously be a place called Croome d'Abitot"; but sure enough there is: it would seem, more often known nowadays -- boringly in comparison -- as Earls Croome. This settlement's most -- seemingly only -- famous son, is the Anglican Bible commentator John Trapp (1601 -- 1669), who was for a time headmaster of the free school at Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire -- some half a century too late to have taught William Shakespeare.Croome D'Abitot in Worcestershire was also one of the settlements inside the area encompassed by the Royal Forest of Horewell (until it was cleared around the time of the English Civil War).
