Some two miles south-west of Sadgill is Kentmere, Cumbria; also under the shadow of big hills to the north, and at the end of a long minor road leading out of "civilisation" to the south. Despite the "crow" short distance as above; driving a vehicle between Sadgill and Kentmere would involve a fair few miles' long way round.

It is claimed that a cockatrice - a two-legged dragon, with a tail and a rooster's head, not dissimilar to a wyvern - dwells near the churchyard at Fishlake; anyone unfortunate enough to hear its cry will never sleep again.

This rare beast was also the heraldic symbol of the Langley family of Agecroft Hall, Agecroft, Lancashire (now Greater Manchester).

Essentially Bold is, physically and administratively, one with neighbouring Clock Face; which has a pub named, what but the Clock Face? -- settlement reckoned to take its name from the pub. There is seemingly no other pub in Britain bearing exactly that name; however, Balsall Heath -- an area of Birmingham -- has a pub called the Clock.

Balsall Heath was hit by a tornado in 2005, Widnes suffered something similar in 2021

Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire, also has a production facility of the German multinational Dr. Oetker company (cake / pudding / cereal products in general).

There are in the more northerly parts of England, several different rivers with the name Derwent. Thorganby lies on one -- a tributary of the Yorkshire Ouse. Further north is another Derwent, tributary of the Tyne. Situated on this Derwent is Ebchester, County Durham.

Colwick, Nottinghamshire (eastern edge of the Nottingham conurbation) also sounds like a physical indisposition.

A poll nominating the best and worst places to live in South East England by iLivehere placed Harpenden at the top, and Luton at the bottom.

Poor old Luton -- seems not to be a happy place. For instance: the 1919 Peace Day riots there -- intended joyous celebration of the end of World War I, turned nasty, with many local people, including ex-servicemen, disgruntled over unemployment; and their being refused the use of a local park for their own celebratory event. The rioters stormed the town hall, and burnt it to the ground. Another 1919 happening, involving post-war discontent getting violent (which incidentally, I used in the game a few months ago) was at Kinmel Bay, now in Conwy County Borough -- Canadian troops lodged at the nearby Kinmel Camp, fed-up and wanting to go home, rioted; things got rather ugly.

Pwllglas has a pub called the Fox and Hounds (not the Cross Foxes; as seems -- per recent material on this game -- popular as a pub name in these parts). Shenstone, Staffordshire -- just south of Lichfield -- also has a Fox and Hounds pub.

Lewes, East Sussex, is also big on celebrating November 5th with some reference to its original significance (thwarting of 17th-century reckoned-treasonous Catholic doings). That emphasis in Bridgwater is no doubt linked to the town's prominent role in the Duke of Monmouth's abortive rebellion against King James II in 1685.

Rawtenstall has what is claimed to be Britain's last surviving herbalist and temperance bar. A similar establishment traded on High Street, Gateshead, until its much-lamented closure a few years ago.

Gateshead has the Millennium Bridge for pedestrians and cyclists, Greenwich has the Millennium Dome (it has since been renamed the O2 Arena)

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Referring back to the Rawtenstall posting, I have actually visited the "Mr Fitzpatrick's" herbalist establishment some years ago and on the "Artisan Market" circuit in the north part of Cheshire East, there was usually a stall with those products and sometimes, a small sample tub for tasting purposes in which carbonated water was added. Usually £4 to £5 a bottle and a wide range of flavours.

The London Borough of Barnet is also twinned with one of the twelve boroughs of Berlin. Greenwich's "twin" thus, is Reinickendorf; Barnet's is Tempelhof-Schoeneberg.
