Bow Wow Sauce or Wow Wow Sauce is a sauce composed of stock, vinegar, port wine, mustard and pickled walnuts which is usually served with roast meat was developed in Painswick.

Philadelphus Jeyes also developed a sauce in Northampton in 1835 - it has recently been recreated by Jeyes of Earls Barton.

Montrose, Angus: is another substantial Scottish settlement whose name features in the title of a work by Sir Walter Scott: respectively, The Fair Maid of Perth; and A Legend of [the wars of] Montrose.

The town of Montrose shared it's name with the recently decommissioned Royal Navy Frigate F236 HMS Montrose, although the ship was actually named after the Duke of Montrose. Similarly, her fellow Duke Class Frigate F233 HMS Marlborough is named after the Duke of the same name rather than the town of Marlborough in Wiltshire.

There is a tradition that the Marlborough Mound -- a 62 ft. high prehistoric tumulus within the town's limits -- is the burial-place of the wizard Merlin, of Arthurian renown. Several other places in Great Britain vie for this honour; including Drumelzier (Scottish Borders) -- south-west of Peebles.

Drumelzier is one of a number of settlements in Southern Scotland with an archaic letter 'z' in its name which is actually pronounced as a 'y'. Thus it is pronounced as 'Drumelyer'. Similarly Kirkgunzeon in Dumfries & Galloway is pronounced as 'Kirkgunyeon'.

Ballsbridge is a definitely prestigious area of Dublin: two of its streets form the highest-scoring area on the Dublin variation of the Monopoly board -- equivalent to Park Lane and Mayfair (City of Westminster) on the classic London one.

Sutton was part of Surrey until 1965 when it was transferred to Greater London. Another place which changed county in 1965 was Peterborough which was part of Northamptonshire and moved to the short lived Huntingdon & Peterborough county.

Staying on the aviation theme - Manston became Kent International Airport before closing in 2014.

Finningley also saw its former RAF base become a commercial airport (Robin Hood, later Doncaster-Sheffield) before closing in 2022.

Do note that associations in this game are not to be rail-related, for which there is a separate thread.

I suggest we continue from here (unless you can amend the posting with a new association).
Thrapston in Northamptonshire also lies on the line of the River Nene.
