The church of St Mary the Virgin, Hanbury, contains numerous memorials to the Vernon family of the nearby Hanbury Hall. These include, in the Vernon Chapel, a large monument to Thomas Vernon (1654 – 1721), who was an English chancery lawyer, and Whig MP for Worcester and who was probably born at Hanbury Hall. The monument is by the sculptors Edward Stanton (1681–1734) and Christopher Horsnaile the Elder (c. 1658 – 1742). Another work of the partnership is the fireplaces, door surrounds and statues at Ditchley Park, a country house near Charlbury in Oxfordshire, which dates from 1725.
