Warley Wigorn (in a detached part of Worcestershire lying adjacent to a detached part of Shropshire in the main body of Staffordshire) was also under the jurisdiction of the West Bromwich Poor Law Union.
Wiki expands on the part in brackets above, to tell us that Warley Wigorn* "is interlaced with the townships of Warley Salop, Langley, Cakemore, and Ridgacre, which all form part of Shropshire". It is tempting, I feel, to sum up this whole situation with the observation, "what a mess !"

.
It would seem a not inaccurate comment: that territorial strangenesses between counties, of this sort; are quite often met with in this general part of the country. A less complicated one of such, involves
Alderminster, Warwickshire (a little way south of Stratford-upon-Avon); which was in an exclave of Worcestershire until 1931, when it was transferred to Warwickshire.
* I discover that the "Wigorn" part of the name, refers to the settlement's Worcestershire location: the Latin adjective (chiefly used, it would appear, in matters ecclesiastical) pertaining to Worcester, being
Wigorniensis. One learns all manner of things through taking part in this game !
