St Luke's Church, Liverpool, more commonly known by locals as the bombed-out church, is a former Anglican parish Church. It was badly damaged by bombs during the Liverpool Blitz in 1941 and has been a roofless shell ever since, giving rise to its nickname. It now stands as a memorial to those who died in the war, and has also been hired as a venue for exhibitions and events. The city of Bristol has two bombed out churches - St Peter's Church in Castle Park and Temple Church, also known as Holy Cross Church, in Redcliffe. They were bombed and largely destroyed during the Bristol Blitz in 1940 and are now preserved as memorials.
