I can't resist this -- though we had it only a week ago: Tavistock, Devon, also holds an annual Goose Fair.

As celebrated in the local song; chorus --

And WHERE -- be -- yer -- GWAIN?
And WHAT -- be a DOIN' of -- THERE?
'EAVE YER PRONG, AND STAMP ALONG
TO TAVISTOCK GOOSEY FAIR !

Helston is rated as the southernmost town on the island of Great Britain. Thurso, Highland, is similarly rated as the northernmost. (Incidentally, in times past -- up to 1962 -- each had also the respectively southernmost, and northernmost, railway station on said island.)

Close to Toller Porcorum is the Kingcombe national nature reserve, owned by the Dorset Wildlife Trust. The same trust also owns the nearby reserve of Powerstock Common.

Swyre Head is the highest point on the Isle of Purbeck. The highest point of another 'non island' isle in Dorset, the Isle of Portland, is HMP The Verne (I think a prison counts as a settlement, of a specific type, especially as it is separated from nearby villages)

At 435m (1430ft) AOD Princetown is said to be the highest settlement in Southern England. Just 26m higher is the highest in the whole of England - Flash, Derbyshire, at 461m (1514 ft).

It would appear that Flash's claim here, is attended by some "ifs-and-buts" -- it has a couple of, in different ways, rivals; diferences here, decidedly narrow, centring on the height of certain buildings in the villages concerned. Nenthead, Cumbria -- east of Alston -- also claims to be the highest settlement in England; and there seems so little to pick between the English villages, and Wanlockhead (a place well known to us), that the three are rivals for status of highest village in Great Britain. Flash would seem, just -- buildings-wise -- to defeat Wanlockhead: as Wiki pithily puts it, "helped by the scarcity of Methodist chapels in the Southern Uplands".

Alva was at one time in an exclave of Stirlingshire; but this was transferred to Clackmannanshire in 1891. Scotland seems to have liked this kind of thing: until 1890, what was then Ross-Shire was "punctuated" by numerous patches of various sizes, of the "non-continuous" county of Cromartyshire: the largest sector of which, included Ullapool (Highland) and areas north and east thereof. The amalgamated county created by the 1890 reorganisation, was named Ross and Cromarty; kept this name until the 1970s' changes in these matters.

Scrabster in Caithness also lies on the route of the A9 road.

You beat me to it ! I was going for a place far south on the A9...

During the Second World war, munitions were ferried from Scrabster to Scapa Flow on the pilot cutter Mermaid, built in 1908 and registered in King's Lynn, Norfolk.

Bloomfield was the birthplace in 1945 and home for much of his early life of musician Van Morrison. He subsequently lived in (among other places) Notting Hill in London, Bath, and Dalkey in the county of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown (or Co Dublin in old money).

The name "Dalkey" is a combination of Irish "dailg" - "thorn" and Old Norse "ey" - "island" - so the meaning is the same as in Thorney, Cambridgeshire

Sandwich is twinned with Honfleur, in the French departement of Calvados -- a twinning which one might see as aimed at reconciliation; with in 1457, a Honfleur-based French expedition having raided Sandwich, and burnt and pillaged the town including murdering the mayor -- a deed long resented in the Kentish port. Also twinned with a settlement in Calvados, is Portsmouth; whose "twin" is Caen.

In 2017 Leadenham Tea Shop and Post Office was judged best Village Shop/Post Office in the east of England in the Countryside Alliance Awards. In 2019, according to Sporting Rifle magazine, the best Village Shop/PO nationally in the CA Awards was the shop in Hampstead Norreys in Berkshire.

Greenford is another of the seven towns which make up the London Borough of Ealing.
