I never knew that about Surbiton though I grew up not so far away... anyway...

Temperance pioneer Joseph Livesey (1794-1884) was born in Walton-le-Dale and after a busy and very influential life died in the Avenham district of Preston.

Meerbrook has a pub called The Lazy Trout. This is probably unique as a pub name, but the coincidentally similarly-named Marshbrook in Shropshire has a transport cafe also called The Lazy Trout.*

*Edit: or rather had. It has apparently closed permanently, its people now running The Trout Cafe in nearby Church Stretton.

The harbour at Solva is an example of a ria - an unglaciated river valley which has been flooded by sea level rise. The estuary at Kingsbridge in Devon is another, much larger, example.

Nottingham is also twinned with a settlement in Belgium. Bury St. Edmunds's "twin" is Huy; Nottingham's is Gent (to make sure of impartiality, the former of the Belgian towns is in Wallonia; the latter, in the Flemish part of the country).
