There is a prominent landmark on a hill north of Havenstreet: a First World War shrine which a local landowner, John Willis Fleming, had built and consecrated -- actually during the later years of that war -- to honour the memory of his son, and that of all other men of the locality who had been killed in the war. The same man did identically, re time and purpose, with another such shrine, visually alike in all particulars -- this one at North Stoneham, Hampshire (near the modern Southampton Airport).

Haverhill is one of several settlements in England which has a house of some centuries' antiquity, called "Anne of Cleves House"; from its having at least supposedly been given to Anne of Cleves, Henry VIII's fourth wife, as part of his divorce settlement with her. (They liked each other fine, and stayed good friends; it was just the highly important "begetting" factor that was a problem.) Another settlement with an "AoCH" is Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

The village of Hethersett has been a winner of the Big Society Award, an awards scheme set up by prime minister David Cameron in 2010 to recognise community work performed in the UK.

Another Big Society Award winner has been Gateway 97.8, a local community radio station located in Basildon Essex.

A suburb of Bracknell is Martins Heron (which seems rather often to show up in these Quizzes and Games). In the Harry Potter films, the scenes in Little Whinging in suburban Surrey (where Harry lives, reluctantly, with his odious relatives the Dursleys), were filmed in Martins Heron: which some fans regard as being actually, per "canon", a disguised version of Martins Heron. A real settlement which features in genuine Potter lore, endorsed by the author -- is Hampstead Garden Suburb, London Borough of Barnet: where Hermione Granger lives with her (non-magical) parents.

John Logie Baird, prolific inventor and the first person to demonstrate a system capable of transmitting moving images, worked at the Plessey site in Ilford during the 1920s. As well as the first television system, he invented a glass razor, thermal socks, air cushion soles for boots and many other things. He was born and is buried in Helensburgh, Argyll & Bute

White Notley has a pub called The Cross Keys; the pub in Ancrum, Scottish Borders, is called The Ancrum Cross Keys.

I noticed it while my wife and I were in Ancrum just yesterday, hunting down an eleventh century hog-back tombstone (in the graveyard, not the pub).

The popular Victorian novelist Mrs Oliphant wrote a book entitled Lilliesleaf; she also wrote a series of stories for Blackwood's Magazine (later published as a number of novels) under the umbrella title The Chronicles of Carlingford.

In the events of 1798, a force of French troops plus Irish volunteers defeated one from the local contingent of British troops, at the battle of Collooney, aka of Carrignagat -- some eight miles south of Sligo. There is a street in Sligo named after one of the battle's principal Irish combatants, Bartholomew Teeling. (Incidentally, Collooney and Carrignagat were names of appreciable railway significance, in the days when this area was better endowed with railways than is now the case.)

Torquay was the setting for the fictional hotel in the TV comedy series 'Fawlty Towers' which starred John Cleese and his then wife Connie Booth. Cleese was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.

Harking back to the game a few months ago -- it is reckoned that while the derivation of Bettystown's name, is uncertain; it's for pretty sure, nothing to do with anyone called Elizabeth. However -- north therefrom on the island of Ireland, is Helen's Bay, Co. Down -- also evocative of a female first name: and this one, from a real (aristocratic) Helen.
