Nottingham's coat of arms has as supporters, two stags or harts. Hertford's coat of arms has, more centrally placed, a stag; and a stag's head.

Gloucester is also twinned with a settlement in Rheinland-Pfalz State, Germany. Truro's "twin" is Boppard; Gloucester's, Trier.

Other Loughborough-based industry; in the mid-1810s, the inventor John Heathcoat came up with a machine for making lace, or imitation lace, in a new way -- went into business using it, in Loughborough. Skulduggery ensued, involving Luddites -- real or counterfeit? -- and the destruction of Heathcoat's plant. He moved, to make a fresh start, to Tiverton (Devon).

The renowned 19th-century cricketer Alfred Mynn was born in Goudhurst. He features as a "bit-part" character in one of George MacDonald Fraser's "Flashman" novels -- Flashman's Lady -- being involved in a quite epic cricket match in which the anti-hero / narrator is also playing. Also taking part in this match, is Mynn's cricketing contemporary Fuller Pilch -- born in Horningtoft, Norfolk (near Fakenham).

J.M.W. Turner -- of "Temeraire" and "Rail, Steam and Speed" renown -- painted a less famous picture with the title Shoeburyness Fishermen Hailing a Whitstable Hoy.

Solihull in the West Midlands also has a church that is dedicated to St Alphege.

The British / American poet W.H. Auden (1907 -- 73) lived for some time in Solihull; he was born in York.

I have a large sized Turner gilt-framed painting at home......"Heidelberg - Sunset"

Not being very well-informed about art / artists; I didn't know that Turner had ever visited foreign parts. Referring to Wiki tells me otherwise, "but good" !

Rodbourne is a suburb of Swindon, Wiltshire and includes an area formerly called Even Swindon. The Anglican church of St Augustine was built in 1908, and was designed by W A H Masters, who also designed St Luke's Church,, Swindon, and St Philip's Church, Upper Stratton.

Kelsall, Cheshire -- east of Chester -- also has a church dedicated to St. Philip.

Upton-on-Severn in Worcestershire also hosts an annual folk festival.

Inspiration hard to come by, here ... England is chock-full of just plain Uptons (and Wales and Ireland have at least one each) and sundry Upton-plus-suffix-es, as in the above-bolded. I'll cite another such -- Upton Grey, Hampshire (near Basingstoke): a pretty but allegedly highly snooty village, where only "the best people" can afford to live ...

The disused Tuxlith Chapel at Milland, is in the care of a charity unknown to me before Googling the village concerned: the Friends of Friendless Churches [and chapels !] which "does what it says on the tin". Also preserved thanks to these excellent folk, is the tower (all that remains of the building) of St. Peter's Church, Saltfleetby, Lincolnshire (near Mablethorpe).
