Stowe Nine Churches was also once administered by the Hundred of Fawsley.
At Upper Stowe, part of the Stowe Nine Churches "complex": an experiment carried out Feb. 25th / 26th 1935, played a big part in demonstrating the principles of radar to be a practical possibility. The experiment involved having fly overhead a member of the RAF's then largest-size plane class, the Handley Page Heyford bomber (the "bigness", relevant to the procedure); said aircraft had taken off from the then Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough, Hampshire.
