Sale in the Trafford area also has an athletics team with the title of "Harriers"
There have long been those of a somewhat anarchistic turn of mind, who consider that the commuters-working-in-offices scene, is basically futile and a waste of life. Little "tags" and epigrams to that effect: re the Manchester region, the venerable one about two M/C "dormitory areas", not very far apart -- the happily rhyming Sale, and Hale -- and the one-time joint railway undertakings by which the "drones" commuted:
"They sleep by night in Hale and Sale; in Manchester by day / They travel by the CLC, and MSJ&A."
Further south in England -- something of a proverbial dormitory suburb, has been
Stanmore, London Borough of Harrow -- this likely having resonances with its being an Underground terminus, now of the Jubilee Line; formerly, "Stanmore Line" was a title in vogue. Adaptation of a French epigram about the poor commuter's life being brought to naught between job, sleep, and rail-commuting: summarised as "bore, snore, and Stanmore".
