Knockdolian is also on the B7044 from Ballantrae. This road joins the B734 and continues to the A714 at Pinwherry; on the way, it passes through the hamlet of Poundland.

The Internet seems to yield nothing to an entry of "Poundland Scotland", other than the obvious: some "pushing of the envelope" seen as needed -- an instance of the "Pound..." name theme is found a very long way from South Ayrshire: in the village of Poundsgate, on Dartmoor not far from Ashburton.

I found it on Google Maps (other maps are available .....!).
The B3357 road, which heads east from Tavistock onto Dartmoor. At the old, narrow bridge over the river near to the hamlet of Dartmeet the B3357 ends, with the road ahead through Poundsgate into Ashburton being unclassified and prohibited to buses and wide vehicles.

The hamlet is shown by the Michelin Britain Road Atlas: just, seemingly no Google "hits" supplying any info about it -- and we'd already had the river and the road !
Quoting Wiki: "Ashburton used to be famous for a beverage called "Ashburton Pop" -- possibly a kind of champagne -- the recipe for which was lost with the death of the brewer in 1765". In the area of topographically-named "eats and drinks", we also have "Radnorshire Jam" -- not a fruit preserve, but a concoction which is or was made and used by poachers, to lure fish in the River Wye and its tributaries: no doubt employed for that purpose at -- among other places -- Aberedw.

Disserth in Radnorshire also has a church that is dedicated to St Cewydd.
The above-bolded settlement has a near-namesake further north in Wales: Dyserth in Denbighsire, a few miles from the north coast.

Abergwyngregyn was one of ten sites chosen for the Welsh Cultural Heritage Initiative in 2009. Another of the sites was at Glyndyfrdwy in Denbighshire.

Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire is another settlement where Bronze Age period stone coffins were discovered.
In the 1745 Rising, the Jacobite troops easily captured Coatbridge in the course of their march on Edinburgh; an incident referred to by their side, as the "Canter of Coatbridge". Another military engagement (with a nickname -- and a bit of coincidental similarity words-wise), which was a "walkover" for one side: was the battle of Empingham, Rutland, in 1470; the Yorkist King Edward IV and his army quickly and thoroughly routed a Lancastrian force. This fight has the alternative name of "Losecoat Field" -- derivation uncertain, not necessarily to do with people losing their coats.

Knossington in Leicestershire was also once under the jurisdiction of the Oakham Poor Law Union, whose administered area covered parts of both the southern extremity of Leicestershire as well as its own Rutland remit.
Knossington lies among the upper reaches of a quite substantial stream which -- strangely -- seems to bear no name on maps (and I could find no help yielded by the Net). It flows due eastward, passing en route through the village of Ashby Folville, and joins the River Wreake some miles north of Leicester.

Writhlington was on a branch of the Somerset Coal Canal. The branch ran from Midford to Radstock, with a tunnel at Wellow, although it was converted into a tramway in 1815.

Marsden in West Yorkshire also has a packhorse bridge within its environs.
Buried in Marsden churchyard is Enoch Taylor, a blacksmith who in Industrial Revolution times, invented and made the device used in the textile trade which was called the cropping frame. This upset the Luddites, who with a nice symmetry used the sledgehammers also made by Mr. Taylor, to smash said contraptions -- "Enoch made 'em, and Enoch will break 'em". Ned Ludd, founder and leader of the Luddite movement, was born in Anstey near Leicester.

Dalnacardoch in Perthshire also lies on the line of the River Garry.
In pre-railway days, Dalnacardoch was a changing-point for "motive power" re horse-hauled vehicles. On October 9th 1861, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, travelling incognito, had there "a shabby pair of horses put in, with a shabby driver driving from the box". Vicky would not have her husband's company for much longer: he died on Dec. 14th 1861, at Windsor Castle.
