The civil parish of Ardamine contains, or did, a fair number of "townlands" (quasi-settlement areas which rural Ireland tends to "do", rather more than villages Great Britain-style): including Ballyduff Lower, and Upper ditto. There are a number of Ballyduffs in Ireland: one of the more sizeable -- a proper village -- being Ballyduff, Co. Kerry (a little way west of Listowel). (There was a Ballyduff Halt on the Cavan & Leitrim 3ft. gauge system's Arigna branch; though of course that's not relevant here !)
