Name-origins: there are indications from Celtic place-names still remaining in some strength in this area of England (including Pensax: Welsh pen = hill, plus sais / sax = Saxon), that a considerable Celtic-speaking population remained in this area after the Anglo-Saxons took over and started running things. Further evidence adduced for this, from the name of the nearby River Teme: often-occurring Celtic river name -- Tamesis = "the dark one" -- also occurring in River Tame (not far away, just on the other side of Birmingham); and London's Thames; and presumably its tributary the Thame: which flows through the same-named town of Thame, Oxfordshire.
