In the BBC series Just Good Friends, mother and father of the main female lead Penny Warrender live in Chipping Ongar. Penny was played by Jan Francis, who lives with her family in Woodchurch, Kent.

Beacon Hill (also known as Sedgley Beacon) is one of several Beacon hills in England and was once the site where beacons were lit to warn local people of invaders. It provides views across the Black Country and many other places, and it is also possible to see another Beacon Hill from it; this is Barr Beacon, which is some 15 miles away on the edge of Walsall, West Midlands.

The Anglican Church of St Mary the Virgin, Tetbury was built in 1781 incorporating elements of an earlier church, and is a grade I listed building. The current Church was designed by Francis Hiorne. In c1776, he was also responsible for the rebuilding of St Mary & St Giles Church, the Parish Church of Stony Stratford, near Milton Keynes, which also incorporates part of the original Church, namely the tower.

Harry Bourlon Illingsworth was born in Hoyland Common, West Riding of Yorkshire on 20th November 1917 and died at his home in Berkhamsted on 20th July 1989. He was professionally (and better) known as the English comedy actor, comedian and ventriloquist Harry Worth.

Hoyland Common has a pub called the Hare & Hounds. Another pub of the same name is located in Marple Bridge.

Greenfield sits close to the entrance to the Standedge Canal Tunnel, which was surveyed by Thomas Telford, who also surveyed the second Harecastle tunnel on the Trent & Mersey Canal who's southern entrance is within Tunstall in Staffordshire.

A number of church bells which were cast in the 17th Century are attributed to Richard Purdue, an itinerant bell founder of that era.
Amongst Purdue's work are believed to be the former Tenor bell at St Mary's Church, South Perrott and the extant Sixth bell at St Andrew's Church Headington.

According to Wiki, Folklore magazine is delivered four times per year to each house in the parish of Folksworth (whether they want it or not 
?) One wonders whether this might be a gimmick on the part of the publishers of said magazine: whereby they do this for every settlement in England whose name begins with "Folk-" -- such as Folkton, North Yorkshire (near Scarborough).

It has been suggested that Walter "Wat" Tyler and his wife were Hadleigh tenants about 20 years before he was one of the leaders of the 1381 Peasant's Revolt, as records show a Wat Tyler taking over a freeholding in Coram Street in 1358/59 and it is possible he worked as a tiler. However, not much is known of Wat Tyler's early life or his birth; he has been represented as coming from, amongst others, Dartford.
