The hamlets of Auldhame and Scoughall are, effectively, one and the same settlement. Wiki tells us that the poet John Taylor visited Scoughall in 1617, and was regaled with locally-caught gannet. Port of Ness, on the Isle of Lewis, is the centre of the district of Ness; whose inhabitants have special permission for an expedition each summer to nearby islets: to harvest for salting-down and eating, a quota of young gannets.
