One of the features of Halifax is Dean Clough, which was one of the largest textile factories in the world at more than 1⁄2 mile long. It is today a converted building for hotel, office and retail use, including a Travelodge hotel. The first Travelodge hotel was opened in 1985, on the A38 just outside the village of Barton-under-Needwood in Staffordshire.

Willingdon is part of the civil parish of Willingdon and Jevington in the Wealden District of East Sussex. The two villages (and civil parishes) used to be separate; the merger of the two has produced a parish of over 7,000 people. Willingdon is part of the built-up area which is Eastbourne, and lies on the main A22 road, whilst Jevington is on a minor road leading to Friston.

Jevington was the location of the much-loved and frequented Hungry Monk restaurant -- now, sadly, closed down for good. The Hungry Monk was, according to some aficionados, the place where banoffee pie was invented. Another respected banoffee pie exponent is the food writer and TV cook Mary Berry; who was born in Bath.

Seabrook was for a while (c. 20006/07 the happy hunting ground of Dave/Davina the dolphin. Another famous dolphin was Freddie, who swam the waters off Amble, Northumberland between 1987 and 1992. Sadly, both Davina and Freddie were the subject of alleged indecency by humans which led to court cases.
