The AD122 tourist bus service operates between Easter and October each year from Hexham, serving a number of locations along Hadrian's Wall, as well as Haltwhistle. Memorably, the route number, AD122, is the date of the building of the wall.

The name "Soho" first appears in the 17th century, and may possibly derive from a former hunting cry. James Scott, the 1st Duke of Monmouth, used "soho" as a rallying call for his men at the Battle of Sedgemoor on 6 July 1685, which took place at Westonzoyland near Bridgwater in Somerset.

The port town of Seaham (aka Seaham Harbour) was built from the 1820s at the behest of the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry, who had married into the wealthy coal-owning Vane Tempest family.

In 2013, Londonderry was the inaugural UK City of Culture, having been awarded the title in 2010. Paisley was shortlisted for the 2021 award, but were unsuccessful when Coventry was preferred.

The Ashton Memorial, Lancaster, stands close to the mathematical centre point of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, excluding the Isle of Man. The centre point for Wales is near Cwmystwyth, Devil's Bridge, Ceredigion.
