Tranmere is also covered by the CH41 postcode area.

Scrabster is also a major fishing port heavily affected by the "Cod Wars" of the 1970s-1980s.

The waters which form the River Sheaf rise as a series of streams on a ridge of gritstone six and seven to the south west of the main city centre. From there, it flows northwards, past Dore, through Abbeydale and north of Heeley, and passes into a culvert, through which it flows under the centre of Sheffield before joining the River Don.

Knutsford is named after the Viking king Canute/Cnut/Knut, who conquered large parts of England after landing in Sandwich.

In August 2019 Whaley Bridge had to be evacuated due to the threat of the nearby Toddbrook Reservoir dam collapsing.
An earlier dam disaster, which did result in flooding and fatalities, occurred in 1925 in the Welsh village of Dolgarrog.
