The main canal this lies on is the Kennet and Avon which makes extensive use of two rivers but by Monkton Combe there was a short canal built for transportation local coal and one of the places this served was Timsbury
Lady Godiva's statue is in Coventry and the story of her ride is well known. She was the wife of Leofric, Earl of Mercia. Mercia doesn't seem to have had a capital as such, but activities centred on the royal estates at Repton and Tamworth.
The local football club is Wokingham & Emmbrook FC, who are based at Larges Lane, Bracknell in a ground share arrangement with Bracknell FC. They currently play in the Hellenic League Division One East, where one of their opponents is Holyport FC, who play at Summerleaze Village in Maidenhead.
