Wilmslow Road, Rusholme is part of the B5117. There are a large number of Indian and Middle Eastern restaurants along a section of this road, known locally as the Curry Mile. It contains at least seventy restaurants, take-aways and kebab houses specialising in the cuisines of South Asia and the Middle East.

The Mumbles
district of Swansea also had it's own mile, but this one centred around the 26 pubs that were to be found there (The Mumbles Mile).

The composer of the hymn Abide With Me, Rev. Francis Henry Lyte was a vicar at All Saints' Church, Brixham. He lived at Berry Head House, and when he was a very sick man, near to dying, he looked out from his garden as dusk fell over Torbay, and the words of the hymn came into his mind. He was born at Ednam, near Kelso, on 1st June 1793 and died on 20th November 1847.
