Interestingly travelling food seller, Maggie Bridie of Glamis is reputed to have invented Forfar bridies rather than them having come from Forfar as most think.

when the county of Angus was called Forfarshire

The poet and author the Revd. Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy (1883–1929), was Vicar of St Paul's Church, Worcester. As an army chaplain in the First World War he would hand out Woodbine cigarettes to men in the trenches, hence his nickname of "Woodbine Willy". He was, though, born in Leeds.
