Glyndbourne also has a musical festival

Err .... according to Wikipedia, "Glyndebourne is an English country house, the site of an opera house that, since 1934, has been the venue for the annual Glyndebourne Festival Opera. The house itself, located near Lewes in East Sussex, England, is thought to be about six hundred years old and listed at grade II.

However, if you are all happy, I'll take Lewes as the place to follow, and say that just as the town was the site of the Battle of Lewes, so the town of Battle, also in Sussex, was also the site of a battle - but of Hastings, not Battle.

"You are right of course about the house, I was being rather sloppy but there is not just the house, there are shown on the map things like Glyndebourne Farm, Glyndebourne Pit and Glynde the settlement proper," said he clutching at straws But following on from Lewes I offer Ludlow which also has the remains of a castle
But seeing as Paul has beaten me with Faversham I instead offer Bedford which also has a brewery.

There are a few surviving back-to-back cottages in Helmshore, but a much larger collection of these can be found in Birmingham, where the National Trust run guided tours of them - and you can stay in one of them as well!

Hi All,

Following a request and support for a change to the rules of the game, please be advised that the geographical area for this game has now been extended.

  • Settlements may be anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland (Éire), Isle of Man and The Channel Islands.

Hope you enjoy the new challenges that this presents

Today Haddington is a small town with a population of less than 9,000, although during the High Middle Ages it was the fourth biggest city in Scotland after Aberdeen, Roxburgh and Edinburgh.
