Thomas Lord, who founded Lord's Cricket Ground in London, was born in a house which now houses the Thirsk Museum. He remained in St John's Wood till 1830 when he retired to West Meon in Hampshire, where he died in 1832.
The Church at Chaddesley Corbett is dedicated to St Cassian. The fittings include a Norman stone font, which is thought to be the work of the Herefordshire School of sculptors. Other work by this School can be found in St Michael's Church, Castle Frome in Herefordshire.
