Sutton-on-Sea was the poetic destination of a pub trip in his childhood written by Doc Cox/Ivor Biggun, who went to school in Retford.

Search for 'The Charabanc Trip by Ivor Biggun' on You Tube. It isn't too rude, unlike some of his other stuff, and I think it's funny.

Merthyr is twinned with a Parisian suburb (Clichy-la-Garenne) , Whitwell in Rutland unilaterally declared itself twinned with Paris in 1980. (Paris did not respond to their offer of twinning.)

Long Ditton has a cricket club with a bar. Whoever wrote the Wikipedia entry is very proud of this. I should think most places in the country could boast this, but I'll choose Warmsworth, where I live.
