I suspect Chagford in Devon was intended but mere was in Deerfold's mind so it will be interesting to see if that really was the case.
:)

Indeed - my apologies to all. I did indeed mean to write Chagford rather than making somewhere up.

Wearing my very best Sunday pedant hat, may I be so bold as to enquire if Sellafield an accredited settlement ... or is it the name of the large establishment.

Seemingly it was a settlement prior to the current industrial facility.

Sellafield

Sellafield's station was opened in 1850 to serve a remote area of farms and marks the southern end of a single track section of the Cumbrian Coast Line from Whitehaven. The station is unusual in having an island platform for north-bound trains but the old station building, made out of attractive bricks, still stands and has been extended with a brick and local slate structure.

The area grew in the 1940s due to the establishment of the Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) near to the small village of Sellafield, as a sister factory to ROF Drigg just down the coast. From 1947 this grew into the Sellafield Nuclear Reprocessing Plant and the site now employs about 10,000 people, mostly west Cumbrians.

The well known Wayland's Smithy never was a smithy and so could not be closed, it still exists and is actually a long barrow just off the Ridgeway to the south of Knighton

Assuming that you actually meant Ellesborough

Shackleford is also just inside an AONB.
