The church of St Eadburgha Ebrington is the burial place of Sir John Fortescue (c1394 - c1480), one time Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales and an influential author concerning English Law. The John Fortescue Society is still joined by law staudents at his old college, Exeter College Oxford.

Broadway was the home of Ralph Vaughan Williams. One of his best known works, Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, was written specifically to be performed at the cathedral in Gloucester.
