The churchyard at Heptonstall contains the grave of David Hartley, a counterfeiter, who was executed at York.
He was a member of the Cragg Vale coiners, based, surprisingly, at Cragg Vale.

The spiritual needs of the good folks of Binchester [as far as the Anglican Church goes] are met by the clergy team of St Andrews, Bishop Aukland.

Last time we were in Gresford, I linked the Bells of the church with the bridge at Llangollen [2 of the Seven Wonders of Wales]. So I suppose I can't do that again!
So, as in history, Gresford has been under Welsh and English dominance, likewise, Todmorden, now in W.Yorkshire, was for some time in Lancashire.

Dolphin House surgery in Stanstead Abbotts is a branch of the main surgery in Ware.

(As an aside the Yorkshire/Lancashire county line did at one stage bisect Todmorden town hall).

(As another aside, my wife lived in Ware for a year and according to her none of the jokes are funny).

Ware did you say your wife lived?

The actor Nigel Hawthorne lived and was buried near Ware.
He was born in Coventry.

Edit

Amazing - this thread is dormant for 3 hours and then Paul & I post within a few minutes of eachother!

The Vicar of Ancaster [currently the Revd Alan Littlewood - a splendid chap] - also has the care of neighboring Wilsford.

Assuming that British Overseas Territories are a no no, I'll pop round the houses a bit.

Gibraltar is another place that has a strait named after it. There is a place called Gibraltar Point near Skegness.

Walmer was the birthplace of the illustrator John Hassall whose 1908 poster, commissioned for the GNR, stating "Skegness Is So Bracing" introduced us to the Jolly Fisherman.
