It may be a little more complicated than that as Ripponden & District Carriers/Motors carrying goods existed as a seperate entity until 2005. I believe their first passenger operation was a Sowerby Bridge - Oldham service in 1925. It is no longer possible to get from Ripponden to Oldham by public transport without changing (and using more than one operator).

I was concerned mainly to make the point that out of small beginnings, great companies ensued. Obviously space precluded my giving a full history of Hebble Motor Services!

I'm glad you did.
I lived in Halifax for 17 years, so we have a transport background in common. I sometimes go back there, and one of my favourite bus rides is the Centrebus 531 from Halifax, through Copley, Sowerby Bridge & Soyland to Ripponden.
