Sigh...

From one dump to the place that tries (and fails) to imitate said dump, and is thus far worse:

Weston-super-Mare has also seen its pier ravaged by fire in the last ten years. The difference being ours is traditional <D

Nether Stowey

where Coleridge was living when he received an unwelcome interruption by a person from Porlock.

During the "Bloody Assizes" in the autumn of 1685, in the aftermath of Duke of Monmouth's Rebellion men from Nether Stowey who were caught up in the rebellion are said to have been hanged, drawn and quartered in the village after they were sentenced to death by Judge Jeffries. The duke of Monmouth landed with 82 supporters, including Lord Grey of Warke,[8] and gathered about 300 men at Lyme Regis in Dorset on 11 June.

* All right, Paul beat me to Nether Stowey while I was doing all that research, but nevertheless, it's interesting, don't you think.

Anyway, Launceston, this is mildly interesting, has the only document in the UK signed by Queen Mary II and her husband, William of Orange. Queen Mary II is not to be confused with Queen Mary 2, which is a large Ship that can often be observed at Southampton.

The main stadium in Milton Keynes was also to have been massively developed had England won the rights to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Caernarvon, Carnarvon or Caernarfon was popularly the venue for the investiture of the Prince of Wales. The current holder of this post, Prince Charles, owns a considerable proportion of the West of England, and has constructed with his own bare hands a bizarre fantasy village called Poundbury, stuck like a limpet onto the side of Dorchester, Dorset.

Another site within the Duchy's jurisdiction is Newton St Loe, just outside Bath - one of two villages close to my University.

Minehead is linked during the summer months to Lynmouth by an open-top double decker, affording magnificent views of the Somerset/N Devon coast.

Cambridge is also a county town, of a separate county. It really is, so stop trying to pretend otherwise official people! :p
