The only issue is that you have
slightly mis-spelled Farquar; it's Ffarquhar I believe. However, this could then pass on a phonetic similarity instead. What you have basically done is allow a triple of associations to reach your answer - but given that (a) it is all in one post and clearly intentional, (b) all of those are valid connections (or at least they would be if they were British :roll

, and (c) the thread is need of a bit of a kickstart, I am going to allow it. If anyone else contests this decision, I am going to overrule it by declaring the super-clue void and saying that both Sidmouth and Tamworth are two-syllable, eight-letter towns that end in
th.

Not including the name Gloucester, another name that would be understood to mean Gloucester would be Glevum. Glevum is far shorter than Gloucester. Applying the same rule elsewhere, we can see that
Chester's Welsh name is far shorter than its "usual" name.
