Perth Gaelic was a distinct dialect of Scottish Gaelic spoken in the area. Lawers was for most of her life the home of the last speaker of the dialect, one Elizabeth Christina McDiarmaid who died in 2024. However her claim is thought by some to be flawed as she learned the dialect as an adult. The last known native speaker (one who learned it as a first language) is said to have been Allan Breck Stewart, chiefly known for being convicted (but never punished) for the murder of Colin Campbell of Glenure, a royal factor responsible for an early stage of the Highland Clearances. Campbell was shot by a sniper in woods near Duror Argyll & Bute. Allan Stewart was tried in absentia and sentenced to death, but fled to France where he was last sighted in about 1790, his place and date of death being uncertain. His fame arises from being included in Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Kidnapped.

Madron (Cornish: Eglosmadern) in Cornwall is also the location of a Holy Well (or Clootie Well). In 1894 Madron Well was said to be the only Cornish well where rags were traditionally tied.

A clootie well is a holy well (or sacred spring), almost always with a tree growing beside it, where small strips of cloth or ribbons are left as part of a healing ritual, usually by tying them to branches of the tree (called a clootie tree or rag tree). Clootie wells are places of pilgrimage usually found in Celtic areas.

The village of Cilmeri or Cilmery is famous for being close to the spot where the last native Prince of Wales, Llywelyn ap Gruffudd (also known as Llywelyn II or Llywelyn the Last), was either killed in action or captured alive and executed by the soldiers of King Edward I on 11th December 1282. The last resting place of Llywelyn's body is not known for certain; however, it has always been tradition that it was interred at the Cistercian Abbey at Abbeycwmhir or Abbey Cwmhir in Powys.

Harrapool used to have what appears to have been the only serpentarium in the UK, but it closed in 2016. However many zoos have snakes in their collections and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine has a herpetarium which houses a collection of venomous snakes, kept to support the development of antivenoms.
